To Do List

It's interesting how you don't know what you need until you need it.

We need to be able to charge camera batteries while in the Jeep. We have a 12V charger that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Jeep decided that when you turn the ignition off all of the 12V power shuts off. Not such a great feature when you're trying to charge a battery.

TO DO #1: Devise some way to keep 12V power on while the Jeep is off.
BONUS: Some way to keep from running the battery down if I forget to turn the device off.

Rachel has takes over 4GB of images each time we go out. I have a 100GB hard drive. Anyone else see the problem here?

TO DO #2: Increase storage capacity for images. Find some way to organize images.
BONUS: Cheaper is better.

April 02, 2011

The front u-joints on the Jeep have been making music for a little while now. I wasn't too concerned as it was only when making sharp turns in 4WD. Lately, it had become a constant noise. Time to give it some attention.

I had the front u-joints installed and the front wheel bearings replaced.

Things were good for about a week. Now the front driver's brake caliper is sticking. I just replaced those a few months ago! It can't be bad. Can it?

Oh well. Life with a Jeep...

We slept in Saturday morning. So, no early light tours of St. Mark's. We did go in the evening though! The weather was just awesome. This is the two or three weeks out of the year that you don't mind living in Florida.

We headed out to the lighthouse to see if the Bald Eagles were at the nest. No one home. There wasn't much going on out at the lighthouse. We decided to take our time on the way back.
Rachel has to have the eyes of a hawk to see this guy from the car.

Kermit?

It was a nice evening so we parked the car and walked along the roadway to see what we could see.
We were walking along and she says "Hey Chris. That reed has eyes!"

As I said earlier: eyes of a hawk.

This is a test post from flickr, a fancy photo sharing thing.

St Mark's NWR & Wakulla Springs - 24MAR11

It's Saturday and we headed to St. Mark's NWR

We came across these White Faced Ibises. At least we think they are the white faced and not the glossy variety. Can you help with the ID?

Loved this little alligator. He thought he was something to fear. Too bad he's only 2 feet long...

I really mean it this time.

Life has happened and plans have changed. Sucks doesn't it?

We're still planning on making the trip some time in the near future. I'll keep the Jeep progress updated as I make modifications.

For the time being, the blog will concentrate on our local trips.

Expect to see a lot of pictures or critters and other things I find remotely interesting.

Well, here it goes...

Howdy gang

This is my first attempt at a blog. I will use it to document our trip to Colorado, Arizona and Utah in the Spring of 2010. Rachel, my brilliant and beautiful wife, graduates in May. We never really had a honeymoon. So, we thought we would use the time after graduation and before she starts her new job to do a little traveling.

Not wanting to pull something by overdoing it the first time out. More to come..
